World Book Day will take place on Thursday March 6th. As we will have swimming on that day, we will mark World Book Day on Friday 7th March and with some special events.
On Friday, we invite everyone to dress up as a character from a book or comic. Weather permitting, we will have a parade of all our characters in the garden.
During the day, author Aislinn O’Loughlin will visit us and will run workshops with all pupils.
We will also have a Read In so we would like everyone to bring a cushion and their favourite book. During the day, everyone will be asked to find a cosy spot and together, staff and pupils, we will all drop everything and read for twenty minutes.
In the run up to NJS Book Day, we will run some other events, the Design a Cover for a Book (running at the moment), the Bewley Book Swop and the Bewley Buddy Read.
For the Bewley Book Swop, we welcome donations of good quality used books. Please send in books between now and next Tuesday. From next Wednesday, we will share out the donated books.
During the Bewley Read, pupils from 5th & 6th will be paired with pupils in 1st and 2nd for some reading sessions during the school day next week. Each morning next week, pupils from 3rd & 4th will read with Infants.
We also have World Book Day vouchers which will be distributed to all pupils. These can be exchanged for a World Book Day book in one of the local bookshops.
