Sixth Class combined poetry and art this week while learning the poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by William Wordsworth.
We read and discussed the poem together and talked about how the poet describes the bright yellow daffodils dancing in the breeze. The children imagined what a field full of daffodils might look like in spring.
Using the poem as inspiration, the pupils created their own daffodil paintings. First, they drew three large daffodils and outlined them using oil pastels. They then coloured the flowers and leaves before adding a soft blue painted background to make the daffodils stand out.
Each piece of art is slightly different, and when displayed together they create a bright and cheerful springdisplay in our hall.
